Their daughter Jean was born in 1928 by which time they were residing at 32 St. James Gardens, Alperton3. Vi was a traditional house wife bringing up a family. Their next recorded address from 1930 was at 60 Peel Road, Sudbury. By 1933 the family had moved to 103 Canning Road, Wealdstone. In 1937 they are recorded at 2 Copland Road, Wembley but were could well have been there the year before as Tony their son was born in 1936 and he states they lived at Wembley at this time. They had moved to 465 Honeypot Lane, Stanmore by 1939 .

During the Second World War Vi and the children were evacuated to Whitley Bay in north east England for a few months. Fred stayed behind in London. In 1947 they moved to 56 Dorchester Way in Kenton. Albert E. Savin, Vi's father, is also recorded at the address for a single year in 1950, which is shortly after Albert's first wife had died. The Childs were still registered at Dorchester Way up until 1961.
