And some there be, which have no memorial; who are perished as though they had never been; and are become as though they had never been born (Ecclesiasticus 44.9)
These web pages are also a commemoration of the lives of all my ancestors with the Savin surname, lest they be forgotten. Traditionally someone's final resting place is marked by a tombstone, but its wording may slowly disappear with the ravages of time and graves may be cleared. Hopefully this website will survive for centuries so that future generations can trace their roots and gain some idea of the people they were descended from. This ethos is reflected in the following ancient poem below:
